Now, it appears that Wood is ready for the challenges that being part of a bigger movie franchise bring, after expressing his desire to join one.
Does Wood have a place in the MCU or Star Wars universe?
In an ET Online interview, The Lord of the Rings actor mentioned that he was a “huge Star Wars fan” and that it “would be awesome” to join a live-action Star Wars film, especially because he hasn’t had a chance “to play in a giant sandbox in a while.” Unfortunately, Wood just might have expressed his desires a bit too late. It doesn’t look like Disney is keen on releasing more Star Wars sequels after 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker. However, Wood also mentioned that he’s open to joining another big Disney franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wood explained that the MCU movies are “inherently fun” and “extremely well made”. He added that “getting to play again in that universe’s sandbox would be a blast. It’d be totally awesome because it’s at such an insane scale.” Wood most recently starred in 2021’s No Man of God, which explores the complicated relationship between the FBI analyst Bill Hagmaier and convicted serial killer Ted Bundy. In addition to this, Wood has lent his voice for the animated film series, Star Wars the Resistance, as Jace Rucklin. He’s also set to star in the remake of the classic 1984 superhero comedy film, The Toxic Avenger.
