The People’s Champ joined Epic Games’ hit battle royale as The Foundation earlier this year. The Brahma Bull was part of Fortnite’s entertaining and over-arching narrative. On the other hand, the next WWE superstar will join exclusively as a cosmetic. John Cena will come to Fortnite as part of the Epic SummerSlam event sporting his iconic look: jorts (jean shorts for the non-dads), a bright-colored green shirt, and more sweatbands than he could possibly ever need. In addition to the default look, the full Cena set will add a shirtless version of the WWE superstar, the WWE Championship Title back bling, the Five Digit Slapper pickaxe, and the U Can’t C Me emote. TLDR; Fortnite just welcomed the most John Cena skin in Fortnite. Earlier this year, John Cena teased his Fortnite arrival. At the time, people assumed he was talking about his DCEU character, Peacemaker. But, when that didn’t happen, most passed it off as nothing and completely forgot about it. Now, it appears that Cena was just half a year too advanced with his hints. Then again, maybe there is an upcoming Peacemaker x Fortnite collaboration. After all, James Gunn is working on a follow-up Peacemaker season. Speculation aside, Cena’s Fortnite skin is part of a collaboration between Epic Games and WWE to help promote the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view event. Aside from Fortnite, the WWE is also bringing Cena and current undisputed WWE champion, Roman Reigns, to Rocket League, as unique decals. Meanwhile, Fall Guys players can purchase outfits based on popular wrestlers such as Xavier Woods, The Undertaker, and Asuka. The lighthearted partnership between the WWE and Epic Games hides the ongoing turmoil behind the scenes. Weeks after rumors of a TV-14 rating turn for WWE popped up, longtime CEO and founder, Vince McMahon, confirmed that he will be stepping down and relinquishing his role. Stephanie McMahon has taken over as interim CEO alongside current WWE president, Nick Khan, with Paul “Triple H” Levesque returning to his former post as the executive vice president of talent relations. In other news, James Gunn just confirmed that he’s working on multiple DCEU shows for HBO Max.
