Infinity Ward was founded in 2002 with members from 2015, Inc., the studio behind 2002’s Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Since then, Infinity Ward has gone on to take point for at least ten installments of Call of Duty, which is the most out of any Activision-Blizzard studio. However, it appears that Infinity Ward is ready to spread its wings and try out other ventures, as evidenced by a now-fulfilled job posting that went rounds over Twitter from earlier this week. As per the screenshot, Infinity Ward has filled the position of a narrative director that would help provide “the best narrative and cinematic experience in an open world RPG.” Upon further inspection, you’ll find several other non-COD listings on Infinity Ward’s career page. For example, an ad for a senior character artist specifically states that the studio is working on an “unannounced AAA project,” at its Poland studio. https://twitter.com/charlieINTEL/status/1536127568138706944g It’s certainly big news for Infinity Ward to work on other projects, but it doesn’t appear final yet. For one, Infinity Ward only just filled the narrative director position. As the hired individual will “set the overall vision and direction” of the game, the project is still in its very early stages. If anything, it’s less of a game right now and more of a concept, one which could still be canceled depending on how the development goes. Also, we shouldn’t forget that Microsoft is still set to close the deal to acquire Activision Blizzard. In the meantime, fans can look forward to Infinity Ward’s next confirmed projects, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. The former will launch on October 28 with Warzone 2 coming soon after.
