Aside from the server traffic, players have also reported that they could not transfer their characters from Overwatch to the sequel. The issue is related to the new first-time user experience that Blizzard implemented for OW2. Veteran players were not happy about having to play 100 matches to unlock all the characters. The development team has heard the complaints from the community and has already deployed several patches to normalize the gameplay experience. Blizzard has also issued a new apology to the community over the launch week issues. Along with the apology, the studio has also announced that they are giving away free loot as compensation for the issues players had to endure during the first week. The announcement was posted on the official Overwatch Twitter account.

Besides making progress on bug fixes & stabilization, we’ve got goodies to share with all players 🚑 Health Pack Weapon Charm🏴‍☠️ Cursed Captain Reaper🎉 2x Match XP weekends How to get em https://t.co/pU6b13P0ww pic.twitter.com/Pzs1RvnWFu — Overwatch (@PlayOverwatch) October 11, 2022 Blizzard is offering a free Health Pack weapon charm and the “Cursed Captain Reaper” legendary skin for players who will log on to the game from October 25 to the end of the first season. Along with the cosmetic loot, the studio will also be having a double XP weekend that will be announced at a later date. Aside from issuing apologies and giving away free loot, the OW2 devs have been hard at work to improve the gameplay experience. There will be a new patch coming to address more bugs with the sequel. Expect more patches in the coming weeks as the developers work to make the game as stable as possible. Blizzard is hoping that the compensation and new patch will pacify the fans of Overwatch 2. However, reading through some of the replies, it looks like Blizzard has some more work to do. There are reports that the account merging queue is taking about a week. A major issue that has been discovered by players is that auto-aim assist can be enabled for PC players. Console gamers have also reported that auto-aim was disabled in crossplay matches with PC players. Gamers are also frustrated with the weekly challenges and the grind to get coins to unlock the Battle Pass and purchase skins. Blizzard has placed a cap of 50 coins per week that players can earn. It may take some time for Blizzard to iron out most of the issues that players have been encountering in OW2. Aside from the cosmetic items, the best compensation Blizzard can give is a stable gameplay experience for everyone. Hopefully, they will get it all sorted out in the soonest possible time. Overwatch 2 is free-to-play and is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
