You can pencil in Jackson’s twelfth appearance when The Marvels premieres in November 2022.
Death, Taxes, and Samuel L. Jackson
In terms of the MCU timeline, the earliest appearance of Samuel L. Jackson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in 2019’s Captain Marvel. The Brie Larson-led movie treated audiences to a rare look at Nick Fury with both eyes still intact, as he finds out that the world is full of superpowered beings after meeting with Larson’s Carol Danvers, who is also known as Captain Marvel. Following Fury’s present-day appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed that he’s set to reprise his role for 2022’s The Marvels. The 72-year-old actor took to Instagram to confirm that he’s going to play Nick Fury in the upcoming MCU movie. He uploaded a photo of the prosthetic facial hair that he wears when playing Nick Fury and another photo where he’s wearing a printed shirt showing Fury’s hand holding the pager that the S.H.I.E.L.D Director uses to contact Captain Marvel. If this isn’t enough to convince you, Jackson posted another photo on Instagram with #themarvels, which all but confirms that filming on The Marvels has begun.
Where else can we watch Jackson’s Nick Fury?
We can’t blame you for wanting to see more of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in the MCU. He’s been a constant presence in the universe, bested only by Stan Lee’s cameos in terms of MCU film appearances. So, if you’re wondering when and where you’ll see Nick Fury next, it will most likely be in the Disney+ series, Secret Invasion. The upcoming TV series will see Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos’ make an appearance again. The latter is the spaceshifting Skrull who disguised himself to look like Fury on Earth during the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home. All the while, the former S.H.I.E.L.D head was out in space. You can also hear Jackson’s voice as Nick Fury in Disney+’s What If…? animated series, which started airing the first of its nine episodes last August 11.
