The last Skate title, Skate 3, was released way back in 2010 and since then, there’s been no official word on whether not a Skate 4 title was coming. The Skate franchise is widely considered as one of the most popular sports games around. The first title, in particular, was highly praised. Many critics and fans loved its more realistic representation of skaters and the skating scene as a whole, while others love its clever use of analog controls to give players better control of their skateboards in-game. While the development team behind the latest title has since disbanded, it hasn’t stopped fans from flooding the EA message boards with requests and questions about the potential sequel over the years. Apparently though, those prayers did not fall on deaf ears. In an unprecedented turn of events, EA has officially announced that Skate 4 is in the works. Skate’s creative director, Cuz Perry, recently appeared at the tail end of this year’s EA Play event with a phrase that franchise fans have been dying to hear, “We’re back! It’s happening!”
When Will Skate 4 Release?
Unfortunately, both Perry and the game’s director, Deran Chung, did not confirm when Skate 4 is going to release. — Electronic Arts (@EA) June 18, 2020 All Chung had to say during the presentation was that they’ve waited years to “make the right game” and things are still in their early stages so they’ve got “a long way to go”. With that said, don’t expect Skate 4 to release anytime this 2021.
Is a Skate 4 Trailer Available?
There is no Skate 4 footage, trailer, or even logo, available as of the moment. Neither of the game’s creative director and director released any media for Skate 4 during the presentation, only confirming its existence, which was obviously enough to send social media into a frenzy.
What Platforms Will Skate 4 Release On?
Perry and Chung opted not to elaborate any further when it came to a possible release date and which platforms the game will release on. Of course, it’s only fair to assume that Skate 4 will only release on next-generation platforms, so expect it to release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with a potential release on Microsoft Windows PCs. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if the game also released on the Nintendo Switch given the popularity of Nintendo’s hybrid console. Skate 3 is currently available to play on Xbox Series X/S consoles via backward compatibility with support for 4K resolution and 60fps framerates.
