Many years after it firmly established itself as one of the best western RPGs ever released, Skyrim continues to either be ported to other consoles or have other derivates made of it. This includes a tabletop game. Yes, you’ve heard that right, a Skyrim tabletop game is set to release.
When Is The Skyrim Tabletop RPG Release Date?
The Skyrim tabletop RPG isn’t going to release anytime soon, that’s for sure. All we have to go on, for now, is a basic description that reads “an epic board game of adventure across Skyrim for 1-4 players” with the game going by the title of The Elders Scroll 5: Skyrim The Board Game. If it’s any consolation though, the project couldn’t be in better hands. The makers, Modiphius Entertainment, have worked on numerous tabletop RPGs based on known video game franchises in the past. This includes Star Trek Adventures (Star Trek) and Fallout: Wasteland Warfare (Fallout) among others. In addition to this, Modiphius has also worked on a tabletop RPG based on the TES series of games. TES: Call to Arms, a previous project of Modiphius, is a tabletop RPG title based on The Elder Scrolls Online and features various characters from the franchise. Modiphius plans on tapping GameFound to help raise money for the game, which is arguably the biggest news here. GameFound is a website that aims to compete against Kickstarter. It was founded by Awaken Realms’ CEO, Marcin Świerkot. Should this campaign end up becoming successful, Kickstarter could find itself with some serious competition. For years, the crowdfunding platform has been the go-to choice for many tabletop RPG makers. But, if the Skyrim tabletop game finds success in GameFound, then it could deal a serious blow to Kickstarter. This is because tabletop games help make up around a third of the platform’s annual revenue.
