The game’s unique mix of Halo’s combat mechanics and the iconic portal mechanic from (you guessed it) Portal means that Splitgate firmly stays in the category of games you will enjoy no matter what. But with major titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends adopting crossplay to accommodate players, the question becomes, does Splitgate cater to its fans in the same way?
Does Splitgate have crossplay?
Splitgate was one of the few games in recent history to actually support crossplay on release. When it was released on PC, Playstation, and Xbox simultaneously, the game allowed you to play with your friends all over the gaming world. Cross-play was in effect instantly, and regardless of what console or system you were on, all you needed was your Splitgate ID to form a party with your friends. From there, it was as easy as readying up and starting shooting.
How to find your Splitgate ID?
You can find your Splitgate ID by going into the socials menu in the top right corner of the screen. From there, navigate to the “Add Friends” tab, and your Splitgate ID should be the first option in the menu.
Can you turn off Crossplay in Splitgate?
Cross-play isn’t something that everyone enjoys. Players who want to play in a more competitive environment, or just want to play against players where they won’t be at a disadvantage, are never fans of cross-play. Fortunately, Splitgate allows players to simply disable cross-play and play against people from their own platform (console players rejoice!). Disabling cross-play in Splitgate is easily done by following these steps: That’s it. Now, whenever you go into a match again, you’ll be playing against and with players exclusively from your own platform. And if you want to re-enable cross-play, you can just re-check the option again.
Does Splitgate have Cross-Progression?
When a game usually has cross-play, the story goes that the game will have cross-progression as well. For the uninitiated, cross-progression means your progress in terms of leveling and unlocking in-game items will carry over between platforms.
— Splitgate (@Splitgate) September 9, 2021 This may come as a disappointment to some, but Splitgate currently does not have cross-progression. While the devs behind the game have clearly stated that cross-progress will eventually make its way to Splitgate, they have also said that it is currently not on their timeline.
