According to VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, Microsoft might reveal the GoldenEye 007 remaster “in the next few weeks.” Grubb talked a bit about the GoldenEye 007 remaster on GrubbSnax, an exclusive show on Giant Bomb Premium. Unfortunately, Grubb didn’t reveal more information about the re-release of GoldenEye 007 outside of who might announce it. Also, it should go without saying, you’ll want to take everything that you just read with a grain of salt. Having said that, a GoldenEye 007 remaster is a long time coming. Last year, footage of a canceled attempt to remaster GoldenEye 007 went viral, which only fueled further interest from fans to see it come to fruition. Many consider GoldenEye 007 the best James Bond game of all time, something that might only change with IO Interactive’s take on the iconic spy’s adventures. Interestingly enough, GoldenEye 007 was not among the long list of potential releases included in the infamous Nvidia GeForce Now leak last year. On the other hand, the number of games confirmed from the aforementioned source continues to grow by the day. After God of War on the PC, other then-unannounced games that followed suit include Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, a PC port of Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade as well as Crysis 4 and Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars projects. At the end of the day, only the developers and publishers behind the GoldenEye 007 remaster (or remake?) know the truth behind the project. But, as the James Bond franchise will turn 60 this year, there’s never been a better time to announce a re-release of the franchise’s most iconic video game adaptation - even if it’s 10 years too late from the golden anniversary.
